Dearborn Youth Symphony (DYS) was formed in 1975 to provide young performers with symphonic ensemble experience and to foster interest in instrumental music. The DYS has been an important step to greater musical achievement for many young musicians in our community. With support from the Dearborn Recreation Department and parent volunteers, the DYS continues to challenge and nurture young musicians. Members range from 8 to 22 years of age and represent over 25 communities within the metropolitan area. The DYS rehearses and performs at the Ford Community & Performing Arts Center. To its' members, the DYS offers solo/concerto competitions, scholarships, and grants. The DYS is comprised of a concert orchestra, a symphony orchestra, and flute choir. DYS concerts for the 2011-2012 season will occur at 4 p.m. in the Michael A. Guido Theater on December 4, 2011; March 4, 2012; and May 6, 2012.
